The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference will be held from November 11 to 22, 2024 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This will be the 29th session of this global gathering commonly known as the Conference of the Parties (COP). The president-designate is Mukhtar Babayev, minister responsible for ecology and natural resources of the government of Azerbaijan.
The incoming president's vision is to "raise ambition and enable action" and outline ways to turn this vision into reality. This is another session of global negotiations on climate change issues with widely divided positions.
Priority topics for discussion include climate finance and the NCQG issue, UNFCCC Article 6 on capital mobilizing the dust engine repair, increasing the loss and damage fund and advancing adaptation. (More on thenational.com)
