Sequestration of carbon dioxide in the fields is also suitable for farmers

Two independent studies have confirmed that spreading rock dust on fields to help remove carbon dioxide can significantly improve crop yields, writes New Scientist.

Basalt rocks naturally react with carbon dioxide dissolved in water and turn into carbonates. This process, called weathering, can be accelerated if the minerals are ground into dust, increasing the surface area exposed to water. (Gabriele Crescenta, more at internazionale.it)
