The GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard provides requirements and guidance for companies and other organizations that prepare an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions. It was designed with the following goals in mind:
- To help companies prepare a greenhouse gas inventory that represents a true and fair record of their emissions using standardized approaches and principles
- Simplify and reduce the costs of compiling a greenhouse gas inventory
- Provide businesses with information that can be used to create an effective strategy for managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- Increase consistency and transparency in GHG accounting and reporting between different companies and GHG programs
The module builds on the experience and knowledge of more than 350 leading experts from businesses, NGOs, governments and accounting associations. It has been tested by more than 30 companies in nine countries.
