Climate change poses a significant risk to the global community, with physical effects causing significant economic losses. Over the past decade, storms, fires and floods have caused significant GDP losses. Africa in particular faces serious climate-related challenges, including drought, desertification and increasing cyclones, leading to displacement, migration and food crises. The continent is also disproportionately affected by global temperature increases and is projected to experience an escalation of physical climate hazards. In addition, the limited capacity of African governments to respond to the climate crisis due to the debt crisis and economic upheavals calls for urgent measures to forgive debt and increase liquidity. At the African Climate Summit, leaders will be called upon to make ambitious pledges and commitments. A comprehensive "framework of pledges and commitments" will be developed to guide these actions. By adopting ambitious ideas and making bold commitments, we have the opportunity to reverse climate change, not only in Africa, but globally.
