Human-induced climate change has played an "absolutely overwhelming" role in the extreme heat that has swept across North America, Europe and China this month, according to an assessment by scientists released on Tuesday. Throughout July, extreme weather wreaked havoc across the planet, with record-breaking temperatures in China, the United States and southern Europe, sparking wildfires, water shortages and an increase in heat-related hospitalizations.
