Food currently accounts for 30 % of greenhouse gas emissions. It's the same as transportation. To put it in perspective, eating a steak, fries and salad releases as much CO2 into the atmosphere as driving a medium-sized gasoline car for 60 km. But not all food on the plate has the same carbon footprint. The lion's share is beef.
