Washington, April 11 (TASR) - International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and UN and COP28 climate leaders pledged on Tuesday to work to accelerate public-private financing to help raise the trillions of dollars needed to meet emissions reduction targets. Georgieva, COP28 Chair-designate Sultan al-Jaber and UN Special Envoy for Climate Mark Carney said they will work to make the investment environment more conducive to climate finance by identifying barriers to financing in climate change by the private sector, and "using innovative financial instruments to increase private investment in emerging and developing economies," the IMF said.
