Guidelines at EU level on the resistance of buildings to climate change

Buildings can be vulnerable to climate change. Extreme weather and changing climatic conditions can damage and degrade building materials, disrupt the integrity of the structure and even lead to its collapse. The European Commission has therefore published a new technical guideline on the adaptation of buildings to climate change. The report synthesizes existing methods, specifications, best practices and guidelines for construction and renovation. Technical guidance and best practice guidance will help assess the resilience of new and existing buildings to climate change and plan their retrofits accordingly.
